Online Japanese Lessons
There is no more convenient and effective way to learn the Japanese language than via online Japanese lessons. In the past, you would have to sign up for a class at a college or find a good private tutor to begin learning the language. And if you lived in a rural area, neither of those was an option. Thankfully, those problems were solved with the creation of online Japanese lessons.
However, not all programs are created equally. Some courses are primarily text driven, which is tough to use because you don’t know if you are truly saying things correctly, and you can’t learn to recognize the spoken words. Since one of the hardest things about learning a language is understanding the spoken word, a text-based program is basically useless.
Other online Japanese lessons do have audio aspects to them, which helps a lot, but if there isn’t a lot of variety to the program, interest in the program can wane quickly.
Fortunately, because online Japanese lessons are becoming popular all over the world, the quality of the programs has increased significantly in recent years. Certain courses, such as Rocket Japanese, include multiple interactive audio lessons, a Japanese teacher whom you can email directly, an online learners forum, and even games!
In this type of course students can set their own pace as they learn to speak, write and read the Japanese language. And a big perk of online Japanese lessons is that you have instant access to the course, so if you want to begin learning the language five minutes from now, you can do it!
Another big perk is the cost of online Japanese lessons versus college courses or a private tutor. Rocket Japanese, for example, has 31 lessons that total over 13 hours of audio lessons. If the average hourly rate for a private tutor is $40, it would cost you over $500 to hire a tutor for 13 hours. But, a Japanese software course will cost only a fraction of that, and you can have lessons whenever you want to, rather than once a week as it might be with a tutor.
Where I live we get a lot of snow in the winter, so the convenience of not having to go to class at a specific time (such as during a snowstorm) is a huge benefit to online Japanese lessons! Plus, I have kids, so with the online course I am able to have a lesson whenever I am able to find time. Some days it is first thing in the morning, other times it is late at night.
Finally, because certain Japanese lessons packages have so many activities and ways of helping you to learn, they make it enjoyable and easy to learn. When you have dozens of lessons about grammar, culture, and writing, videos, learning games, online quizzes, access to the instructor, and lifetime access to a learning lounge, how could you get bored or need anything more?!
